CHRIS ROSS-EWART (he/him) is a sound designer, composer, and performer. Working across the US, Canada, and the world, his practice ranges from performer to composer to designer, in theatre, musical theatre, podcasts and installations. He works with both electronic and acoustic instrumental composition, soundscape design and live reinforcement of voice and instruments. He has designed with many leading theatre companies including Canadian Stage, Bard on the Beach, Alliance, Tarragon, Buddies in Bad Times, Coal Mine, Luminato Festival, Stratford Festival and Shaw Festival, and many productions have been world premieres. He has also taught and designed at institutions including Western Michigan University, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, University of Rochester, Amherst College, University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. He has significant experience designing and engineering show control and audio systems, as both a QLab programmer and audio engineer. He holds an MFA in Sound Design from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale and a BA from University of Toronto’s drama program. He also works as a mental health worker at Insite, a safe injection site, and would love to talk to you about drug legalization and supporting your local harm reduction organization.
